For the Art of the Horse
FOR THE ART OF THE HORSE
This is a personal project to photograph and create pieces of art. In 2018 I photographed nearly 300 horses for their owners to showcase the animals that changed their lives. Going into 2019 I’ve decided to take a step back and pursue my roots that comes with the art of photographing horses vs creating memorable portraiture.
I am looking for the following models in the southern CALIFORNIA area
Barns with amazing architecture both interior and exterior
Big foundation bred flashy AQHAs
Working Cow Horse’s that can demonstrate all three disciplines of cutting, reining, and fence work (multiple horses that can demonstrate in one place is a bonus!)
Ranchers or Ropers that would let me follow along on their work day
Andalusians, Friesians, or Gypsies that can be turned out in large fields/ arenas (minimal fencing preferred)
Horses that can work at liberty with their riders in an open setting and willing to trailer to specific locations
IF YOU FIT THESE REQUIREMENTS Please send in the following:
Horse’s Name and breed
Location and Ranch name
3-5 pictures (iPhone photos are fine) pertaining to the subject you are presenting to be photographed
Also include photos of landscape, arenas, and or barns of where the horse would be photographed. Background settings are going to be extremely important so please explain the property. Wanting to avoid discussion of logistics/ trailering for most subjects!
your questions answered:
Will I be able to purchase the images you take?
Yes! You will be provided with web sized digitals of all processed images but have the option to purchase prints and full resolution digital images in your online gallery
When will the photos be taken?
This will vary depending on the subject matter. We will discuss exact dates that work for both our schedules, but most sessions will be taken during golden hours which are at sunrise and about an hour or two before sunset.
How do I apply?
Send the following information to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line reading:
