I get asked A TON in the preparation process if braids look better or not. The truth is my answer will always be it is completely a personal preference. I'm going to make sure your horse is captured in a way that makes them look STUNNING and I can do this with or without braids!
The rain finally decided to let up and not force me to reschedule YET ANOTHER SESSION. Seriously California, I pay enough taxes I shouldn’t have to reschedule 9 shoots in the winter!!!! So on this fine February in Fallbrook, I got to spend a few hours with Sierra and her crew at her barn Integrity Sport Horses.
Sierra also models for Romfh Equestrian Apparel throughout the year because y’know she’s just STUNNING!
I tried really hard last year to have a shut down after December 10th so I could finish editing the remaining sessions for year and enjoy the holidays with my family + friends. Instead I spent December 23rd with Boonie, Gusty,Romeo, Fiona, Harley, Skyler, and their human Amber.
Amber had reached out to me in fear that this would be Romeo’s last Christmas as his health sadly began to diminish and she always wanted photos of all her fur babies together and some great images to remember him by if she lost him.
”Hi Sara thank you so much for our beautiful pictures! We just LOVE them and I can’t wait to get one printed! We loved working with you, you were great! We just loved how personable you were and made us feel so comfortable, and not awkward as we both don’t like to be in the spotlight. And we loved how you were so flexible working with our dog! Thank you so much for everything!” - Delaney
October 15th 2016 I decided to rebrand and revamp my business and started offering mini sessions for just $50 dollars.
October 27th 2017 I left my job, October 28th I sold my horse, and October 29th I moved down to Huntington Beach to start my journey as a full time photographer
Here we are October 30th 2018 to mark 1 year of being a full time photographer. It has been the hardest and most rewarding year of my life. My heart is so full and I am ever so grateful to everyone that has believed in me and allowed me to pursue my biggest goals and biggest dreams.
Lauren switched barns to start riding with Hillary Ridland at Blenheim EquiSports International which is where she met her sweet boy Darco. I sometimes feel like I did an injustice to just how cute Darco’s face is! He has the sweetest personality which matches so well with Lauren!
Its always so nice when you get a fellow artist as a client! Lauren photographs for fun and already knows how to OWN IT in front of a camera! By the end of our session, I was like, “Girl, just go do all the model things!"
Leanna inquiring about her session had me rolling because she was in Vegas with her daughter who just turned 21 and couldn’t make me any promises that she wouldn't get stuck on a roof somewhere just like the Hangover!
A month later I got to go out to her barn in Canby for my Oregon trip to meet Conrad! Her beautiful bay Thoroughbred that literally has the nickname “Handsome.” Leanna describing his personality was pretty spot on!
It was extremely hard for me to wait to publish this blog because Janell did this session as a Christmas present for her husband (she jokes that he loves Jetta more then her!).
Janell rescued Jetta years ago when she was an exercise jockey and a handful of race horses were disowned. Skin and bones she was one of few that survived the situation, Janell has seriously turned this horse around and I honestly wanted to call her a miracle worker!
My description when I delivered their gallery was simply “I love it when they call me big Papa”
Kristy of Black Star Equestrian is one of those people that I’m seriously so sad I just missed. A former trainer at HCPEC she moved her business down to Temecula as she builds up her own property in the beautiful Murrieta horse country.
I’ll give you a little secret about being a photographer: when clients contact you again to photograph them we do a celebration dance because it means we did our job in making you feel comfortable and happy! Our goal is to always become your friend; seriously!
Michelle had me out a few months back to photograph her horse Hook and now had me out to capture her beautiful girls Chloe + Alexis. Obviously we had to force their brother in for a few too ;)
So I came to this session already SOLD that it was going to be one for the books. A lot had to do with the fact that I knew Brianna was going to be my kinda girl!
Brianna and her mom volunteered at the rescue where they adopted her boy King from 5 years ago after he was started none other than Kim at Forhman Performance horses, who I ride for today! Talk about coming full circle! They're now nestled in one of the many beautiful homes in Orange Park Acres! I love coming back to OPA (not only cause I go lottery house shopping in my head) because most of the houses sit behind a mountain which makes for the perfect sunsets!
Throwback Thursday is an understatement when it came to Megan + Toby’s session!
I kinda got giddy inside when Megan’s mom emailed me about doing her a Horse + Rider session at Don-E-Brook Farms because it was the FIRST barn I ever rode at, where I like to say I developed my fearless card and it was where I bought Marco from! Ya holly memory lane!
